Hope for Haiti

Image
I’m watching the Hope for Haiti telethon right now and I am moved by the collective efforts of the world. In moments such as this one I feel great hope for humanity. We can unite not only in times of need but in love, in hope, in faith. In times such as this, race and social class disappear uniting us as part of the human race, as brothers and sisters who share this great earth. We have a duty and a responsibility to protect each other, to help each other, to support each other not only in times of great distress but always. The musical talents represented on this telethon are phenomenal. You can purchase all of tonight’s performances on itunes…itunes/Haiti Haiti will need your help for years to come. Every little bit helps. You can help. Please don't forget about them. Thank you for opening your hearts to others. http://www.hopeforhaiti.com/ www.canadaforhaiti.com George, great job pulling your famous friends together. Here is a slideshow of pictures from the telethon: http://www...

HIMYM

Image
Do you know what that stands for? If you don’t then you’re missing out on one of the best shows on television. HIMYM stands for How I Met Your Mother. The only thing you need to know about this show is that it stars Neil Patrick Harris and Jason Segel. AWESOME , I know. Neil Patrick Harris (who grew up as the child doctor known as Doogie Howser – you have the synthesizer theme song playing in your head right now don’t you?) plays a womanizing, suit loving character named Barney Stinson whose life goal is to be “AWESOME”. You love it already…I can tell. He is my favorite character on the show. I would gladly accept a Barney Stinson spin off. Check out the all time best Barney Stinson lines here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQTCUU4N7DU This character is so amazing he even has his own book. It’s called the bro code. I’m a chick and I own this book. It’s basically the bible for dudes. It’s a guide to awesomeness. Let’s talk about Jason Segel for a minute. I had myself a mini Jason Sege...

Yes It's Genius!

I’m writing this blog because I was shocked to learn that so many people out in the world don’t know about the genius application for iTunes. "What the fudge?" Let me back up a few steps first. Although I’m using a PC to write this blog (I know, blasphemy!), I am 100% without a doubt a Mac addict and have been for as long as I can remember and there are two reasons for this. First, one of my teachers in high school was an early adopter of Mac products and brought his students into the cult at an early age. Once you go Mac you never go back! The second is my husband. We are a happy Mac family. Apple has done the most amazing job when it comes to building a brand. In fact they are more than a brand they are a culture, a lifestyle, a way of life. Buy an Apple product and coolify your life. The interesting thing about Apple is that its early adopters were rather out of the box, off the wall, not following with social trends type of people. Then the followers of the world wanted ...

500 Days of Summer

Finally got around to seeing this little movie that could and loved it just like I thought I would. In the first few minutes a narrator will say, “This movie isn’t about a love story.” It is and isn’t true. It’s a movie with a great love story in it, but the movie itself isn’t a love story. It’s a movie about life. The awesomeness and the crappiness of life. You win some and you lose some kind of thing. Let’s talk about Joseph Gorgon-Levitt for a minute. I’ve blogged about him before and I’ll say it again. I think JGL is one of the best actors of my generation and I’m looking forward to watching him give his acceptance speech at the Oscars someday…..soon. Also can’t wait to see him in Inception (Check out the trailer here. It’s going to be badass: http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/inception/ ) The relationship between his character Tom and Zooey Deschanel’s character Summer is superb. You fall in love with them both and you will find little parts of yourself in each of them. Here is the...

One Week

Image
So the question becomes. What would you do if you knew you only had one day, or one week, or one month to live? What life boat would you grab on to? What secret would you tell? What band would you see? What person would you declare your love to? What wish would you fulfill? What exotic local would you fly to for coffee? What book would you write? These are the questions asked in the fantastic film ‘One Week’ starring Joshua Jackson (who is Canadian by the way). Amazing movie! Amazing! I had goose bumps from the first minute to the last and a ball at the back of my throat with tears on the edge of spilling out from the corners of my eyes. If you are Canadian, watch this movie and be proud of your Country like you always are. If you’re not Canadian, do yourself a favor and watch this movie to understand why Canadians are so proud. One Week follows Ben Tyler as he travels across Canada in search of a final great adventure after he is diagnosed with stage four cancer. It certainly isn’t...

Merry Christmas

The laziness factor is at an all time high today, exactly where I wanted it to be and a Merry Christmas indeed was achieved. Am still wearing the sweatpants and sweatshirt I put on when I woke up this morning. Yup, that means I didn’t shower yet either…don’t you just love the holidays. We finally joined the rest of the world this afternoon by watching the movie “The Hangover.” Oh my god, hilarious. Loved it! Made me want to get in the car and drive to Vegas immediately. I giggled, (yes giggled) my way through the whole movie. It had a low budget, independent feel which I love. Low production = fantastic acting in my books and it was certainly the case for ‘The Hangover,’ even the baby rocked a solid performance. Here is the trailer if you want to check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XB0pGnzsAZI Anyway, after the movie we ate a traditional turkey dinner while listening to a wicked iTunes genius list full of Ben Harper (yes, I’m still obsessing over him), Jack Johnson, Damien Ric...

My Superficial Christmas Wish List

Image
I know I’ve said this to so many people, but I’m not sure I’ve ever typed it. Just to cover the bases I’ll recap my thoughts on the whole Christmas gift giving thing. Will and I don’t exchange gifts. Instead of buying multiple small presents for each other, we save the money to purchase bigger ticket items for the house or we save it for vacations. We are in the stage of our life known as the ‘building years.’ Furnishing a house is expensive man, therefore ‘want’ items get tossed to the bottom of the list and ‘need’ items become top priority. Here is the second reason we don’t do the whole gift exchange. A few years ago we came to the realization that the exchange of material goods for specific holidays was baloney. I understand this isn’t the case for everyone. Some people really look forward to birthdays and holidays for the presents. People love presents, I totally get it. Awesome, love it,keep it up it's good for our economy. I on the other hand would prefer a bouquet of flower...
