Hope for Haiti


I’m watching the Hope for Haiti telethon right now and I am moved by the collective efforts of the world. In moments such as this one I feel great hope for humanity. We can unite not only in times of need but in love, in hope, in faith. In times such as this, race and social class disappear uniting us as part of the human race, as brothers and sisters who share this great earth. We have a duty and a responsibility to protect each other, to help each other, to support each other not only in times of great distress but always.

I have been so out of touch lately. I apologize. I miss my blogging. As you know, one of my favorite things to do is think. Think, think, think. Unplug

Have you ever tried to kick your caffeine habit? Have you ever tried to leave your cell phone and computer at home when you go on vacation? I am attempting to do both. Recently, under a doctor’s recommendation, I have been advised to kick my caffeine addiction. I never really drank a ton of coffee I just really enjoy my one or two cups in the morning during the week day and my three or four cups on the weekends. The first week was the roughest. Honestly, I wanted to rip out of my own skin and start scaling the walls. I didn’t realize how addicted I was until I was forced to stop. I’ve never been a smoker but I imagine it’s kind of the same feeling. I’m on to caffeine free tea now. It’s a substitute I will have to live with for awhile. Oh coffee, I love you and I miss you…sigh. I’m not breaking up with you…we’re just on a break. Wait for me. I’m taking a holiday soon and on this holiday I have decided to unplug completely. One Year No Radio

This week I’m celebrating my one year anniversary living without music radio. That’s right…I said celebrating. Don’t get me wrong, I still listen to music, and plenty of it…but since I removed the radio from my daily routine I am no longer bombarded with contests, terribly annoying advertisements, songs on far too high of a rotation or over the top excessive radio personalities. I do listen to the news radio station but only to receive traffic updates and road reports. Other than that…my life has been freed from it. I spend a lot of time in my car. A LOT. This is because I live in the burbs and have no choice but to commute. Honestly, I don’t mind the commute. It’s my ‘me’ time in the day. It’s the time when I do my best thinking. Good thinking requires music. Because music has the ability to make you think deeper. I love deep thinking. It’s cathartic. There was a time when the radio was very much needed.
