Are you Ready for Some Terminal Romance?

Let me start by saying “You’re Welcome.” After you listen to this song then this album you will be thanking me for changing your life. For educating your musical palate. For making you cooler. So, you’re welcome.

Today I’m delivering to you some very fine East Coast music. And not East Coast USA. I’m talking about East Coast Canada. Nova Scotia to be specific. The East Coast of Canada breeds some very incredible singer, songwriter talent. It must have something to do with the salty air, the easy attitudes, the Scottish/Irish roots and the booze. I’m sure the booze helps.

Matt Mays formerly of Matt Mays & El Torpedo is among the great talent I speak of. One of my favorite albums is called Terminal Romance. It was released back in 2008. It’s the kind of album that will match any mood you’re in and the kind of album you don’t leave home without. EVER. My favorite song on the Terminal Romance album is actually called Terminal Romance. It is 7 minutes and 40 seconds of musical gold. The lyrics are genius. “She sang rock and roll with the devil.” Please…do I even have to say anymore?

Some people hear East Coast Canada and they assume the lead instrument must be a fiddle and the on stage performance must include step dancing. I’m here to tell you this is not the case. The East Coast is home to many indie rock bands. Really, really good rock bands. Bands who should get more press but don’t just because they are where they are. These people are just born with talent. There’s no way around it. It’s natural.

Here is a link to Terminal Romance. This is one of those songs you’ll need to turn the volume way up on to get the full effect. It’s also a great driving song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A41FfpVJrT8

If you like that song, then you’ll probably really like the rest of the album. His songs are kind of hard to find on YouTube so just do yourself a favor and buy the album. Check out his MySpace page to find upcoming tour dates, songs and blog entries. http://www.myspace.com/mattmays

Rock on my Friends. Rock on.

  1. He's been compared to a young Tom Petty (recently inducted into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame), and it's easy to see why.

    Don't forget JPE & HR!
