You Won Me Over Red Wine


I have decided that I like Red Wine now. I would never drink it before. Even the smell of it would bring on a headache. Then I got older and all of the sudden I started enjoying foods & beverages that I never liked before. The first red wine that I really enjoyed (as in I finished it and wanted a second glass) was a brand called "Cakebread". It's a Californian wine that runs about $80 a bottle. Of course I liked it. I have an uncanny ability to be drawn towards things that are too expensive for my pocketbook. Over the past few months I have been slowly dipping my taste buds in the wine barrels to see which flavor I most enjoy. It has been a fun experiment to say the least. I will be sure to update the blog with a recommendations.

I feel like a grown up now.

    Finally! Glad I have a red wine drinking partner now! We'll have to crack a bottle or two over the holidays!

    I was in my 40s before I started drinking red wine or much of anything that didn't taste like fruit juice, now it's my favourite drink - I do believe it's an acquired taste - Keep sampling your list of favs will grow - After participating in a wine tour in the Napa Valley several years ago, we were told that the price of a wine is directly driven by supply & demand so your $80 bottle was probably in the $15 dollar range until it became popular - I've watched it happen to a few of my favs over the past. I have been so out of touch lately. I apologize. I miss my blogging. As you know, one of my favorite things to do is think. Think, think, think. One Year No Radio

This week I’m celebrating my one year anniversary living without music radio. That’s right…I said celebrating. Don’t get me wrong, I still listen to music, and plenty of it…but since I removed the radio from my daily routine I am no longer bombarded with contests, terribly annoying advertisements, songs on far too high of a rotation or over the top excessive radio personalities. I do listen to the news radio station but only to receive traffic updates and road reports. Other than that…my life has been freed from it. I spend a lot of time in my car. A LOT. This is because I live in the burbs and have no choice but to commute. Honestly, I don’t mind the commute. It’s my ‘me’ time in the day. It’s the time when I do my best thinking. Unplug

Have you ever tried to kick your caffeine habit? Have you ever tried to leave your cell phone and computer at home when you go on vacation? I am attempting to do both. Recently, under a doctor’s recommendation, I have been advised to kick my caffeine addiction. I never really drank a ton of coffee I just really enjoy my one or two cups in the morning during the week day and my three or four cups on the weekends. The first week was the roughest. Honestly, I wanted to rip out of my own skin and start scaling the walls. I didn’t realize how addicted I was until I was forced to stop. I’ve never been a smoker but I imagine it’s kind of the same feeling. I’m on to caffeine free tea now. It’s a substitute I will have to live with for awhile.
